Sailors Legacy: Future Sailor Sailor Mas is a much loved integral part of the Vintage Carnival landscape. The costumes delight the eye as much as the rock and sway of the dance delight body and soul.
At the Old Yard (Creative Arts Centre, UWI, St. Augustine), Sailors entertain crowds but even more
importantly impart a love for culture, by inviting participation in their dances and performance. To do is to
learn.
"Future Sailor" can be displayed on its own or form part of a conceptual diptych; one of a pair capturing
senior sailors engaging and imparting their knowledge, via energetic movement and the love of their craft,
striving for that fleeting "aha moment" when the "Future Sailor" is born.
