Marrissa C. Richards attended Bishop Anstey High School, and thereafter entered the teaching profession. While at Valsayn Teachers’ College, to develop her interest in drawing and painting she pursued art at the elective level with watercolour being her favourite media.
In 1999 she enrolled as a student of the Visual Arts programme at the Centre for Creative and Festival Arts UWI where she was able to experiment with different media and techniques. She completed her art education with honours and has continued to develop her craft. Initially she was interested in landscapes and still life but lately her attention has been focused on the human figure.
She has been a member of the Women in Art organization since1999 and has participated in ten successful exhibitions with the group. She has also served on the management committee since 2003 and has aided in the organization of the Biennial Art Competitions for fifth and sixth formers as well as several artists’ retreats.
